This retrospective showcased Alex Katz’s prolific career of painting, collage, and sculptural 2D cut-outs, and celebrated the cultural vibrancy of New York across decades, serene seascapes of Maine, landscapes, love, and light. Katz’s colorful, large-scale works were well suited for the rotunda, offering sightlines at every angle and gathering visitors and subjects alike.
