The pinnacle of the Guggenheim’s spiral basks in natural light from the oculus as it terminates and defines a new horizon line, six stories above the city sidewalk. On the occasion of reopening the museum after the pandemic, the top ramp was celebrated as a public gathering space integrated with content from the cycling contemporary artist exhibitions below. The internal design team partnered with landscape architects from Snøhetta to create a contemplative moment of rest, inspired by the ways in which Frank Lloyd Wright conceived of the landscape continuing and living within the building.
