Over the course of almost five years I collaborated closely alongside the artist, studio, and curators to design this record-breaking exhibition. The form for the rotunda piece, Aten Reign, was in direct response to geometries of the building, concealing views of the iconic ramps and yet honoring the architecture and the visitor’s engagement alike. Natural light was filtered from the oculus into the piece, affecting it’s perception across all hours of the day. Coordination with our fabrication and engineering team was critical along with a sophisticated understanding of how to navigate the offerings and constraints of the rotunda. In order to achieve an on-site installation period of less than four weeks it was critical for the team to procure a separate testing facility for mockups, assessment, and assembly.
